Homework
Math homework is given weekly on Friday and is due the following Thursday, unless otherwise stated in the student planner.
Weekly Fact Fluency Quizzes
Fact fluency quizzes are given towards the end of each week. Two grades are given, one for fluency and one for accuracy. The letter that went home at the beginning of the year explains this in more detail. Parent Letter
Classwork/Assignments
Classwork/assignments that are not completed in class that day are expected to be completed for homework and returned the following day. These assignments are on a case by case basis and will be communicated in the student planner.
Student Math Journals
Journals are utilized throughout the year as a reference/resource. They should be stored in the binder and brought back and forth between home and school each day.
Corrections
Math assignments under 70 can be corrected at home with parent/guardian assistance in order to help students understand what they have missed and continue to work towards mastering the skills. Students earn 1/2 points back for each question they correct correctly, up to a max of 70 for the corrected grade.
Tests will go into the grade book 2 times. If students make corrections, only the second grade will be replaced.

ONLINE PROGRAMS
MobyMax
What: This is an online program that has multiple features and uses. It links with student MAP scores, which enables students to complete lessons that are targeted to their individual needs. Teachers are also able to assign lessons based off of classroom content. It also allows them to access ALL subjects.
Why: This allows the student to receive personalized instruction based on their current level in Math, ELAR, and Science. If they have mastered the current topic, they will be assigned lessons that stretch them and keep them growing. If they are struggling with topics, it with scaffold (remediate) the instruction through additional lessons and notify teachers so they can address issues as well.
How: Students will navigate to ClassLink. From there, they will sign in by clicking the MobyMax Icon.
XtraMath
What: This is an online fact practice resource. The program starts the students with addition facts and once they are mastered, it moves them to the next skill.
Why: Mastering math facts will increase confidence and decrease the amount of time students will need to solve simple computations so they can focus on the other skills being taught.
How: Students will navigate to ClassLink. From there, they will sign in by clicking the XtraMath Icon.
KHAN ACADEMY
What: This is an online program that has multiple features and uses. The main way aspect that sets it apart is the video feature. When there is a topic that is confusing, there is the ability to watch a tutorial on the subject and try again. There is also a feature called Mappers [can only be accesed by typing mappers into the url after the Khan Academy web address (if you find an easier way/shortcut, PLEASE let me know)] that allows teachers to input individual student MAP scores and it targets each student's individual needs based on their MAP scores. It also allows teachers and students to update scores each time a new test is taken.
Why: This allows the student to receive personalized instruction based on their current level. How: Students will sign into ClassLink. Select Khan Academy and Sign in with Google.
